This week’s pick is offered by David Snyder, restaurant critic for Philadelphia’s City Paper and teacher at the The Wine School (in Philly). David has his fingers on the pulse of the Philly food and wine scene, and has a knack for grabbing the best offerings from the PLCB. He was quick to recommend this very approachable red from Sardinia.

This wine is made principally from Monica grapes. David described it as very rustic and earthy, a medium-bodied wine with blackberry, mint and eucalyptis flavors. Perdera is the name of the vineyard that produces the fruit, and Argiolas is the family name of Giuseppe, the wine maker.

This bottle will set you back a modest $13-$15. If you have the opportunity to purchase more than one bottle, David strongly recommends picking up as much as possible at that price. You can find it at one of the many retailers listed here on Wine-Searcher.com.

For more of David Snyder’s musings on wine (and food), check out his blog, Philafoodie.com.
